I enjoy working with students as I taught high school Chemistry and Biology along with middle school Physical Science.
I enjoy seeing how the student learns and works in their studies. I then like to get them to think conceptually and not memorize whenever possible. Everyone is different and learns differently, but if they are willing to apply themselves they can learn the materials. Don't be afraid of failure or success, some students can be anxious of either.
I am a Professional Engineer. I made Dean's List in undergraduate work in Chemistry and have a BS in Chemistry. I was awarded the Outstanding Chemistry Student in college. I managed to go through the US Navy's Nuclear Power School Program and serve on a submarine for four years operating a Nuclear Power Plant. I also managed to get my degrees by going to class and studying at night while working full-time during the day. My Master's degree is in Public Administration; cum laude, 4.0 GPA.
As a tutor I work to locate with the student's assistance the areas of weakness and strive to strengthen those areas by working on building stronger foundations in chemistry. I am strong in working with elemental chemistry, bonding, formulas, the Periodic Table usage, electrochemistry, understanding molarity, normality, mixtures and much of what is necessary to perform as a Chemist in a lab or just getting through General Chemistry in high school or college. I can get as in-depth as the student believes they need. I provide an ample degree of practice work to follow how the student solves problems and then also work to strengthen their problem-solving skills. I like to use real-life scenarios whenever possible to form mental pictures for the student which helps to form strong recall memories. I use repetition whenever possible as practice and more practice makes the difficult tasks simple.
