Hello - I am a graduate student at UNC Charlotte who graduated with a B.A. in Japanese from UNC Chapel Hill. I thoroughly enjoy learning, speaking, an teaching Japanese to all people. If you are struggling with Japanese homework or exams, or are just looking to learn Japanese in your spare time, please consider me as your tutor.
I studied at Kanda University of International Studies in Tokyo, Japan in 2009 and have gained advanced understandings of Japanese language, grammar, and vocabulary. I continuously seek to keep up-to-date with my language ability by conversing frequently with native Japanese friends in the area and at UNCC.
I like to teach depending on what the student is looking to learn; however, learning to write in Hiragana and Katakana are basic skills needed to continue learning the language. I find that the "Genki 1 and Genki 2" textbooks are most helpful, but other beginner-intermediate textbooks are also great tools in learning Japanese. I can place more emphasis on speaking or reading/writing depending on the student's interests. I also have a good understanding of Japanese etiquette, manners, and cultural nuances that would be extremely useful for anyone travelling or studying in Japan.
Thank you for reading about me and I hope to hear from you soon!
I am a previous martial arts instructor with a black belt at Sangrock International Tae Kwon Do in Matthews, NC, a member of Fitness Together, a one-on-one fitness studio, and a regular athlete and fitness enthusiast. I was taught weight training and fitness techniques by former bodybuilders at Gold's Gym in Jersey City, NJ.
I have been practicing the piano since I was 8 years old. I received lessons until I was 17 years old, and have been focusing on composition and song writing by myself since then. I feel very comfortable teaching introductory piano to anyone who currently owns a piano or keyboard, and have one in my home as well (semi-weighted keyboard with sustain pedal). I have participated in many recitals over the years, and have earned National Piano Guild certifications as well.
