I have been in Charlotte for 3 ½ years, I am originally from Boston. I have been teaching Instructional Technology for the past 12 years. I am seeking a tutoring position where I can maximize my current skills, my strong organizational skills, educational background and my ability to work well with people. I posses the ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and stay organized while working in small or large team environments.
I was laid off from Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools in June 2012, where I was a Title 1 Tech Associate. I taught K-5 computer classes where I instructed 28 classes to safely navigate through the Internet, to use Microsoft Office 2003, 2007, Web 2.0 tools and other educational software. I troubleshoot and investigated computer related problems, contact vendors or consultants regarding system or software issues. I was the In-house tech contact, manage and maintain 150 desktop computers and printers.
I have been volunteering at a Shelter in Charlotte for approximately 18 months assisting their clients with their job readiness skills, creating resumes, cover letters, replying through email and the basics of MS word and Email. I truly believe in giving back to the community and that everyone should play their part to the best of their abilities. I am very passionate about Transitional Services and helping everyone succeed. I am also currently updating the shelter Website
Before relocating to Charlotte, I was the Technology Specialist at the Holden School in Charlestown, Massachusetts, where I educated my students, staff and administrators to use MS Office 2003, and 2007. I taught Assistive Technology, Multimedia, Digital Photography and Culinary Arts classes, as well as facilitated several groups for At-Risk Youth aged 14-22. Unfortunately, after 30 years, the Holden School closed in June of 2009.
I am currently working part time at a local Community College working in the GED department, advising students and administrating TABE and Pre-GED testing.
