I have over eight years of experience in education, including as a classroom teacher and tutor. As a public school teacher, I have taught English/Language Arts in grades 7 through 12 and Spanish in grades 9-12. I have also worked with students from Kindergarten through fourth grade in Spanish literacy and English language development (ESL). I taught English as a second language to adult learners through an immersion program and worked as an English language conversation partner.
I earned my Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Spanish from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, where I graduated Magna cum Laude. I went on to earn my Master of Arts in Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Secondary English Education from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Upon completion of that program, I received a Meritorious New Teacher Candidate designation in recognition of my exceptional performance throughout the teacher preparation program.
My tutoring methods vary to meet the needs of my students. I can assist with studying and assignments from school or, with advance notice, I can prepare curriculum to address target areas. As a tutor, I have worked with students from all grade levels in vocabulary acquisition, academic reading, and academic writing, as well as SAT test prep for the reading and writing portions. I tutor multiple subjects at the college level, including education, history, Spanish, and English, primarily focusing on the writing process and essay revision and editing.
