Teaching is my passion and I derive a lot of joy and satisfaction from inspiring other people. I taught high school mathematics and physics before going to college and also college undergraduate and graduate level engineering subjects internationally for 30 years before taking early retirement in 2011. I love to speak and teach with practical illustrations and exercises so that a student will have confident understanding of the subject. I have tutored students of ages between 16 and 30 years in and from many countries- US, Canada, England, the Netherlands, as well as many African and Asian countries. I have been particularly touched by the positive changes in many students that that I have taught. For example, many students who had previously failed some subjects and came to me for tutoring have given very positive feedback on their progress in life. I have also had many positive evaluation reports from college students on my subjects.

I have also been able to successfully tutor my own children in high school mathematics and science.Three of them have finished college and the remaining two are currently in college after passing international baccalaureate mathematics and science. I welcome questions from students and love to get comments which demonstrate understanding of and interest in the subject. I also welcome feedback from parents on the students progress and willing to modify my tactics if necessary to ensure students success. Finally, I have flexible tutoring hours and can tutor for several hours in a day.

Civil Engineering

I am a civil engineer with a Master's (M.Eng) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in transportation engineering (a civil engineering specialization), and several years of experience teaching many civil engineering subjects.
Civil engineering is basically the engineering of anything that doesn't move. In general, it is concerned with the overall interface of human-created fixed projects with the greater world. It is the application of a number of science disciplines including chemistry, physics, ecology, geology, microbiology, material science, economics and mathematics, and statistics together with the raw materials and resources of nature as well as the manufactured products of industry to create facilities or devices that are beneficial to mankind. One of its main activities is the design of a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints, such as those in economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability aspects.

Very prepared — Edward was very prepared for my lesson this past Sunday, even teaching me items that previously he thought were outside of his expertise. He was also able to to teach me some new concepts that I asked him spur of the moment. ...
