I have been teaching and tutoring for over 15 years and have loved every minute of it. My specialty is English and Language Arts. I decided to get a degree in English at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte because as a child in school it was my favorite subject. The more I taught English, the more I learned and the better I was able to teach it. After a number of years I received my master's degree in Education at the University of Phoenix in Tucson, Arizona, which gave me even more tools to use in helping students understand that they can do it!
My tutoring methods are simple. I like to learn about each student's background including feelings, likes and dislikes. I want students to feel relaxed, open to learning, and be comfortable around me. There are no stupid questions except the ones that go unasked. I treat every student as an individual and tailor my approach to meet each student's individual needs.
A little more about me? I recently moved from Tucson, Arizona, where I have lived for the past 20 years. I love the desert and have seen my share of rattlesnakes. I even have a pet tarantula named Matilda. I have raised potbellied pigs, have four dogs and one cat. My critters have had to stay in Arizona in a good home while I am here taking care of my family. I have no children, so my students are my kids! Just remember: I love teaching English!
