My name is Yelena, and I am a Russian native speaker. I have been teaching (Russian Language, Russian Literature and English) for about 15 years in St. Petersburg, Russia. In the US I have had 6 years of experience in teaching Russian Language of all levels from Elementary to Advance, Literature of the 19th and 20th century in translation, Russian Culture and Scoiety, Film, and Folklore. Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Russian

I am from st. Petersburg, Russia and have a PHD in Russian Literature from the research Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkinsky Dom) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

I have been teaching for about 15 years while living in Russia: Russian Language, Russian Literature as well as English Language(from Elementary to Intermediate levels), so I have a lot of experience in teaching both my own native language and a foreign language as a second language. To improve my teaching skills I have attended a number of special courses and seminars. After having moved to the US I continued to teach, and worked as a Russian instructor/lecturer in a number of universities and colleges in St. Louis, MO and in NC.

When I teach I always try to include elements of Russian culture and history into my lessons, because I believe that it is impossible to learn a foreign language without understanding national mentality of the people who created that language.
