I graduated from Smith College as a pre-medical neuroscience major. My ultimate goal is to attend medical school and become a doctor. While in college I was a teacher's assistant for a biology course and organized peer study groups. My philosophy when it comes to tutoring is that it is most effective when it is a conversation; rather than structuring tutoring sessions as a lecture with a specific lesson plan, I like to use the topic of interest as a guide for conversation. I do this because I have found that the best way to really learn a subject, particularly science, is not just to memorize facts, but to be able to discuss and apply concepts and understand how they fit into the bigger picture.
I understand that everyone learns differently and I feel confident that I will be able to adapt my methods to accommodate any type of learner. I am passionate about science, particularly biological and neurosciences, and learning and am, therefore, eager to help those who share these passions in any way I can.
