Hello to all!

I am a sophomore in college and have just moved to the Los Angeles area from Oceanside, CA. I'm originally from Texas though. When I was in junior high and high school I didn't enjoy the public school systems. I always felt like I was being held back from my full potential and the amount of students was continually increasing. It wasn't for me. I was homeschooled for a bit and after some time, I eventually found the most unique private school ever. It was a very individualized school. Each student's courses were carefully thought over and a finally mutual decision between the student and Ms. P., the caring founder of the school, was made. It was an extremely small school, it needed to be in order to keep everything individual and personal, and the students worked on their own at their own pace. There was a math teacher, however, but he only came in to school twice a week. After a few months after attending the school I slowly picked up the responsibility to tutor my fellow students in their math and science courses when the math teacher was not around. By my senior year in high school I was tutoring all the students, K-12, during and after school. It was both a pride and joy of mine to be apart of such a wonderful school and now I wish to continue tutoring and helping the rest of the student body of this world.

I feel that tutoring while I was still in high school gives me a better connection to students. The fact that I am young and freshly graduated allows me to understand your child is going through. When I tutor them, they will feel less like they are still in school and more like a friend is helping them learn. I care about all of my students. I have never not seen improvement in any of my students. I am determined, patient, and loving. I know how to explain numbers with words. I will help.

-Annie.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 introduces variables, usually noted as alphabetical letters, as unknown numbers. Students will learn how to graph linear equations and solve for variables. A students' algebra skills are carried with them throughout their college life. It is very important to have a solid algebra foundation. I have tutored 3 students in algebra and 2 in college algebra. I love algebra!

Algebra 2

Algebra II goes further in depth and detail to graphs, functions, and relations and some teachers may even introduce trigonometry. Algebra II is very important for students' college future because it is the foundation of all calculus classes.

Elementary Math

Elementary math is a fun subject to teach for tutors like me. If your child is having problems with math in elementary school it is usually caused from not enjoying the subject, or, not having the attention to do math. Many teachers start giving word problems in this level, which can be new and confusing to students. Whatever the reason may be, I would be honored to tutor another student in elementary math. I have tutored 7 different students in elementary math.

Prealgebra

Pre-algebra is the foundation for how you or your child will preform in future algebra classes. I have tutored in junior high pre-algebra as well as college level pre-algebra.

Every child is different. I can't explain why some have difficulty with it but I can maybe help with explaining it to them. Rotational symmetry is best understood when visualizing it. So make sure you show them examples in motion. Then, I would show them something that does not have rotational...

First you must know that the slope intercept form is y=mx+b where m is the slope (or rise over run) and b is the y-intercept.  (0,4) and (-3,0) are coordinates for x and y. So first we can already note that the y-intercept (what y equals when x is 0) is 4. So b = 4.  Next...
