Everyone always tells me, "your children know too much!" Well, I think you can never know too much. Children don't reach their full potential because teachers use the same method to teach all students. Therefore some kids are left behind, simply because they aren't being taught in a manner that is easy for them to learn, teachers get frustrated because it takes longer to teach them or just place them in special education courses. Sometimes you have to think outside the box and use nontraditional methods so that a child can learn. With my own daughter, doctors said she would have learning problems. I refused to accept that. She is in the first grade and has all A's! I also have a daughter who is in the second grade. When she was in the first grade, her teachers wanted to move her up to the third grade. I make learning fun for them. In everything they do, there is a lesson to be learned. I have worked with children who were placed in "special ed" years ago. Today, when I see those same students, who are now adults, they thank me for believing in them! That is a feeling that is priceless. Education is so important.
My strengths are in elementary math, reading, spelling, grammar, and language arts. Because each child is special,I aim to come up with the best approach to tutoring each individual child, based on their knowledge, capabilities, and personality. I want each child to want to learn. I want them to know that just because they may need a little extra help that it's okay! I would love to give those children who are left behind a fair chance at catching up. Not only that, I want them to know that they can do it too, and someone believes in them.
