Though I have no teaching certifications, I am an experienced instructor for H&R Block for over 10 years. This experience is with adults. I also, have experience as Director of Workforce Development with Goodwill Industries teaching adults and young adults (high school age) in employment search techniques (resume writing, interview techniques, etc) in free classes that were offered to the community.
My teaching methods are varied depending on the type of students involved and the material being taught (adults being different than young people who are different than people with disabilities). The material covered and student levels dictate what tools are used and how much of each (printed material, computer use, etc.) Though, I do subscribe to the power of three method. "Tell the student what you are going to teach them; then teach the subject; then tell them what you taught them." This works best when you introduce a subject in first meeting. The student does homework on the subject. Then the same subject is reviewed at the beginning of the next session (which includes an introduction to the next subject). Then repeat over and over in this fashion.
