I am an RN with my BSN, currently working on my MSN in Nursing Education. My expected graduation date is September 30,2014. I was a Registered Respiratory Therapist prior to nursing school having 15 years of healthcare experience. My career has included multiple specialties and I posses sharp test taking skills. I have 3 amazing children that are the center of my life. I enjoy my career, as it is flexible enough to enjoy their childhood. Believing in yourself is the beginning to a successful education and I will be happy to assist you with the rest. Though I cannot guarantee that you will be successful, I will support you in your endeavor. Thank you!
I have tutored A&P students with success. It is very challenging for some students. As a tutor, it is very rewarding to see the students succeed.
I have not only sat for and passed the NCLEX in 75 questions, I have also sat for and passed on the first attempt both Certified Respiratory Therapist and Registered Respiratory Therapist exams. I will be completing my MSN in Nursing Education in September. I test well and have taught others how to test previously.
I have been a nurse for 10 years. I was also a Registered Respiratory Therapist which gives me an edge with cardiopulmonary, advanced med surg, and calculations. I am able to not only assist students in retaining material, I am able to help them develop and sharpen their critical thinking skills.
Both as a respiratory therapist and a nurse, I have been calculating drug dosages for 15 years. I am ACLS certified which requires dosage calculations and titrations. As a pediatric ICU nurse, I titrated drips and concentrations based on weight and body surface area. In labor and delivery I titrated pitocin and and magnesium sulfate based on response. In discharge teaching, I am required to thoroughly review side effects and dosages with patients. I have access to multiple drug indexes through work as well.
In pursuing my Master's degree through an RN-MSN program online, I gained much insight in writing papers. Most of my evaluations were through scholarly papers. This requires astute proofreading and revising skills.
I have tutored students to prepare for the TEAS and ACT. I have mentored adult learners with less than an 8th grade education. One in particular had gotten her GED and thought an ACT score of 16 was impossible. She achieved her score and gained the confidence to continue her education.
My husband has learned English as a second language. His primary language is Spanish. In our time together I have been able to assist him in English proficiency with the secondary benefit of learning Spanish myself. I have a thorough understanding of the English language both written and spoken.
Great Tutor! — Amy is easy to work with and very knowledgeable in nursing. She has a positive attitude and is very encouraging, which many us of nursing students could use more of. I will definitely be calling her again for tutoring. ...
