I am a college student currently in my junior year at Missouri Baptist University. I have received multiple honors in my academic career and I consider education to be one of the greatest assets available to an individual. I have experience working with many age groups. One example of that experience is my former job as a counselor at a youth camp. I worked there for two years and gained valuable experience teaching and mentoring kids from 1st through 12th grade. I have also helped fellow classmates in and out of school in their studies.

My strengths include history, reading, public speaking, drama/theatre, acting, and many other subject areas.

I focus solely on the student's needs and strive to have a servant's heart when it comes to tutoring. Thus I feel that tutoring can be beneficial and satisfying for both people involved in the process!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Guitar

I have played bass guitar for 3 years and am now a part-time professional musician in the St. Louis area. I have attained much experience from playing live and with a wide diversity of other musicians. I have taken music theory classes while at college and have taken lessons from the in-house bassist of the Fox Theatre. I have taught a number of beginner students and employ extensive ear training methods in my teaching. I encourage students to think outside the box and to bring their own personality to their playing.

Theatre

I have acted for 6 years. I am a Theatre major at Missouri Baptist University and study the art form there. I have been in over 10 productions and have gained valuable experience. I have helped classmates with their assignments and have tutored high schoolers in preparation for auditions. I focus on teaching a student how to get into character and how to achieve an overall artistic eye for what he/she wants to accomplish specifically within the realm of theatre.

Vocabulary

I have a broad knowledge of vocabulary and am able to help others understand ways to interpret a word's meaning and how to make educational guesses when faced with an unfamiliar word on a test.
