With more than five years of STEM tutoring/teaching experience, seven years of university-level education, and three years of computer consultant work, I have the knowledge, expertise, and energy to tutor any individual or group in high-school or college-level mathematics, physics, and computer science!
I started college two years early, receiving an AS from the Missouri Academy of Science, Mathematics, and Computing at age 18. I then received a BA in Physics with High Honors at Oberlin College, with induction to Phi-Betta-Kappa and Sigma-Xi honors societies. Currently, I am a physics graduate student at Washington University researching High-Energy Particle Physics, particularly Lattice QCD. Throughout my college and university education I have provided tutoring services to peers and high-school students. Subjects I've tutored include but are not limited to Introductory Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Classical Mechanics, Algebra I/II, Trigonometry, Geometry, Statistics, Calculus 1-IV, Discrete Mathematics, Linear Algebra, Probability Theory, Group Theory, Computer programming (Java, C, Python, etc.), and Computer Structure.
My hobbies include skateboarding, rock-climbing, and guitar. I'm also a active member of intramural flag-football and ultimate frisbee at Washington University. I get along great with pets and currently own a dog, two cats, rabbit, and nine ducks.
Programming is like building with legos. Once you know the blocks you have to build with and how the pieces fit together, your imagination is the limit. Clarifying these building blocks and relationships is what I enjoy!
As a scientist I use C/C++/Python daily to approach advanced 'relationships' or algorithms between the blocks. As a freelance consultant, I've worked on web apps in Adobe Flex and desktop applications in Java where the user's interaction with your creation becomes just as important as the creation itself. As a student, I've studied Artificial Intelligence to Computer Organization, which allows me to explain the full spectrum of the creation process.
