My passion is for Math, having tutored young children with simple arithmetic to young adults with College Algebra and Calculus. I earned at least an "A" in every Math class I've taken since High School, I've won competitions and scored a 5 out of 5 on the AP Calculus Exam as a senior in High School. I went on to earn "A"s in two different honors Calculus classes at the University of Missouri - Columbia. My pupils have expressed their utmost appreciation for my patience and ability to articulate and describe mathematical concepts in different ways; math is more than just formulas -- it requires an understanding of the concepts themselves.
I also minored in Spanish at the University of Missouri - Columbia. I took four years' High School Spanish before then. I have studied abroad in Costa Rica, and have vacationed in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Ecuador. As a result of my travels and interest in the Spanish language, I have a strong understanding of the language.
I am also an avid (though novice) chess player, and am interested in tutoring beginning chess at a reduced rate. It will take just one lesson for you to realize how much there is to chess beyond the basic rules -- a minute to learn but perhaps impossible to master.
Finally, I have played baseball since I could walk, including four years in High School, four years at the University of Missouri - Columbia where I played inter-collegiate Club Baseball, and currently. I have extensive experience hitting, fielding (infield, namely third base, shortstop and second base), and pitching. I have coached little league and young adults. I was a Manager and Player-Coach for Mizzou Club Baseball, and coached a fall league team for three years.
Please feel free to contact me with any other questions about my availability, qualifications and/or references.
Thank you for your interest, and I hope you find a tutor that fits your particular needs, even if I'm not that person.
