Arabic
I am fluent in speaking, reading, and writing Arabic. I am originally from Egypt and Arabic is my native language. I have also taken several Arabic courses covering vocabulary, grammar, and reading fluency. I can tutor students who need help with Arabic letters,vocabulary words, reading Arabic, and Arabic grammar.
Elementary (K-6th)
I have a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland in College Park. I am currently working on my Masters of Art in Education at Webster University. For the past two years, I have tutored elementary aged students in various subjects such as math, science, language arts, and reading. I enjoy working with elementary aged students and helping them learn through one-on-one tutoring.
ESL/ESOL
I have helped new English speakers learn reading, writing, and speaking. I worked with both children and adults in ESL classrooms. In addition, I have completed several research projects on techniques that work best with ESL learners. As a native Arabic speaker, I understand the importance of having an effective teacher when learning the English language.
General Computer
I am very knowledgeable about basic computer skills as well as being well-versed in various computer software programs. I can teach how to type, use the internet, search the internet, use e-mail, communicate with others online, and much more.
Macintosh
I have been using a Macintosh computer for the past few years. I am familiar with several Macintosh programs including adobe program, iphoto, imovie, and itunes. I can help you learn the basics of navigating a Macintosh computer as it takes some getting used to for beginning users. I can also help you with specific Macintosh programs as well.
Praxis
I took the Praxis exam and received a 174 out of 200. I also took numerous classes that relate to the content on the Praxis including curriculum, instruction, and assessment courses. In addition, I have several resources that can help students with the Praxis exam. These resources include books, notes, and vocabulary words that come up on the test.
Special Needs
I am able to work with students with special needs, specifically gifted learners. I took a class on meeting the needs of gifted learners. In this class, I learned various techniques about helping gifted students excel in the class emotionally, socially, and academically. I am also working towards my gifted certification.
Study Skills
I have very good study skills. I graduated with a 4.0 in my undergraduate degree. I can teacher students how to study, how to manage their time, and how to make the most out of their time.
