Hello! My name is Krystal, and I am an aspiring teacher. Currently, I am a junior at Northwest Missouri State University as an Elementary Education major with a Music minor. During the summer, I live in St. Louis, MO. I have tutored Kindergarteners, 3rd and 4th graders, a couple college kids in math, and I observe classrooms as per my major. But my teaching horizons are constantly expanding! Math is easy to me and I can teach students to find the information they need and take their time. I still play the flute and my private teacher is awesome! I want to share her wisdom!
Elementary math is all about learning to find the right information. I used to struggle with this, but I taught myself tricks so I could take my time and work through problems accurately. They are tricks that I have carried with me through college and I share with those that also struggle. My "pupils" saw an increase in their math scores and began practicing solving problems with accuracy over speed, then speed with their accuracy. My practice is simple and with as little pressure as possible for those I teach.
I have been playing the flute since sixth grade in 2003. Since middle school, I have been involved in band and currently also involved in orchestra. As per my minor in music, I take my own private flute lessons with one of my professors. She is tough, but she can turn an unpolished rock into a princess-cut diamond. I've learned a lot from her and would love to share her wisdom with other flutists.
I am a music minor at Northwest Missouri State. Since I have been playing music since I was five years old (piano, then flute), my understanding of reading music is very good. I also passed my theory classes learning and understanding more behind the music. I work best with beginning musicians up to high school, as I am still learning myself but a younger musician's level of theory is still very basic. I work at their pace, because theory is no easy thing, and I will increase their knowledge of theory with time.
