I recently relocated back to Columbia, Missouri where I lived previously and went to grad school. I have been tutoring for WyzAnt since 2010. During the years prior to my relocation back to Missouri from Iowa I tutored nursing students in physiology and computer use.

I maintain an active RN license and have a master's in higher and adult education from the University of Missouri. My undergraduate degree is in science. My nursing specialty was in critical care and later in my career after earning my graduate degree I worked in the areas of quality improvement, compliance and staff development.

I have many years of teaching experience and have taught many different subjects ranging from critical care to biology and human anatomy, adult development and learning, emergency medical technology, advanced cardiac life support and electronic medical record (EMR) use.

I own and operate a small dog training business, Canine Connection LLC and have recent experience teaching medical assisting students at a career college. With my current dog training and behavior modification business I have current expertise in applied behavior analysis and operant conditioning.

Computer Science

I have been working with computers since I took my first computer class on microcomputers at the University of Findlay in 1975. Later in graduate school at the University of Missouri I took additional computer classes including Introduction to Microcomputers in 1991 and Utility Software for Computers in 1992. I used various statistical software programs in my graduate work at the University of Missouri including SAS, SPSS and Minitab. I use the computer daily in my work as a small business owner and am well versed in Microsoft Windows. I have used the various Microsoft applications extensively in my work in administrative roles in healthcare over the past 15 or so years and have used the various operating systems since the 90's when I was in graduate school.

NCLEX

I have been a registered nurse for 35 years and passed the state board exam in 1978 the first time around without any preparation right after graduation from nursing school. I have taught nursing and critical care and practiced in a variety of settings in several states over the years. I also hold a master of arts degree in higher and adult education and have a teaching career that spans 40 years.

Nutrition

I am a registered nurse and was required to take normal nutrition and therapeutic nutrition as part of my nursing program. I have also taken and passed a course in pet nutrition through Colorado State University. I received high marks in all of these courses. I have a BS in (Natural) Science and master's degree in Higher and Adult Education so have the requisite educational preparation to research and evaluate current literature on nutrition.

Pharmacology

I have been a registered nurse for 35 years, previously certified in critical care. I have worked in some of the top medical centers in the United States and participated in 10's of hundreds of hours of continuing education related to various topics, including pharmacology. Pharmacology is of course a required subject in nursing education. Additionally I have years of practical experience applying those principles, administering countless drugs over my years as a professional nurse.

Photography

I am an experienced published amateur photographer. I have a natural ability for composition and the use of light and understand SLR photography. I have taken classes in photography and have been an avid amateur photographer for decades with experience in digital as well as film photography.

Public Speaking

I have been a professional educator for 40 years and given a multitude of presentations on various subjects to a variety of audiences. I have spoken in a public liaison role as well as a teaching role, and have daily practice speaking to small groups in my current work as a dog trainer and presenter on topics related to dogs and dog training. I have also done podcasts and TV interviews.

Sociology

I took at least one course in sociology in my undergraduate degree program at the University of Findlay and have taken a number of psychology classes. I have been a registered nurse for 35 years and had much practical experience, not only as a professional nurse but also as a professional educator for 40 years.

Study Skills

I have a BS degree in Natural Science and a MA degree in Higher and Adult Education. Additionally, I am a registered nurse, having graduated from Mercy School of Nursing, Toledo, Ohio with a diploma in professional nursing. I was on the Dean's List at Findlay and earned an award for academic achievement at Mercy.

I graduated with distinction from the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior in 2010 and have taken some online courses through Colorado State University and St. Thomas University. I received A's in all of those online classes.

I was a prior member of PI Lambda Theta, the International Honor Society for Education when I was a graduate student at the University of Missouri and for a few years after graduating.

When I worked as a registered nurse I was certified in critical care, which took quite a bit of preparation to be able to be able to take and pass that exam.

I was also a licensed paramedic in Texas and Missouri.

I have been tutoring now for a number of years and have achieved high GPAs.
