I am currently a working as a mother at home raising my four year old daughter. I have experience teaching elementary school for the past 8 years. I taught Kindergarten for 3 years, 3rd grade for 4 years and second grade for 1. I created and implemented lesson plans that correlated with the state and district objectives. I used differentiation and acceleration to meet the various needs of all my students. In addition, I created interactive, multi-level lessons incorporating higher level thinking skills necessary for success. I have had extensive training in Teacher’s College,
Marzano, PBIS, Character Education, LETRs training and other professional development. I created lessons and activities that helped students with achievement on the MAP test. I graduated from Missouri State with a degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Special Education. I am certified Elementary 1-6 and Early Childhood B-3. I student taught in a first grade classroom and in an 5th grade eMINTS classroom.
As your child's tutor I can offer a wide range of experience in the classroom to help your child excel. I believe in a hands on approach. I have a lot of materials and an extensive knowledge of interventions to help your child to be better at reading, writing, math and all other core areas. I believe in positive reinforcement where all successes are celebrated and success is monitored so students can see their achievements. I will discuss with you, as the parent, what needs you feel your child has. I will also pre-assess to see what areas your child is needing more intervention. I will also, in turn, post-assess so we can celebrate all of your child's successes. I hope my experience and knowledge will be helpful for your student and look forward to working with them.
