St. Louis Christian College (Christian Education)
I love to spend time with people. I enjoy seeing my students develop and blossom as they learn. I have taught various age groups over the past 30 years. My specialty is younger children and non-English speakers. I have spent many years outside the US so have developed my listening and communication skills in creative ways.
More specifically, I spent many years working in with Kindergarten children during my High School years. I attended Bible College and graduated with an Education Degree. I home schooled my own four children for much of their lives and continue to tutor non-English speakers as opportunity arises. I have conducted many Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and other church classes. I enjoy teaching. I look forward to the opportunity to teach you in areas that you need help in.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I graduated from St. Louis Christian College with a degree in Christian Education. Four years of Bible Classes after growing up in Sunday School and years of Vacation Bible School have given me a broad Bible knowledge.
I have had years of experience working with elementary children. I received a degree in Christian Education that taught me how to prepare lesson plans and teach students at the Elementary level. I home schooled my four children as well as worked with children in Kindergarten for many of my High School years.
Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School has given me great opportunity to learn how to keep young people interested and excited about learning new things.
Handwriting is important in being able to communicate throughout one's life. I use handwriting not only as a way to communicate, but a way to practice spelling, grammar and sentence building as I teach my students. It can also be a type of art as the student learns to make his handwriting his own expression of writing.
Proper posture, slant to the paper and using paper with correct ruling on it are also things that need to be taught to the beginning handwriting student.
I attended Bible College and graduated with an Education Degree. I have been working in classroom settings for almost 30 years. I help students sharpen their study skills by helping them to concentrate on the correct section of a book or handout...often focusing on the bold print, or creating a memory aid that means something to the student that will aid in the memorization of necessary facts. Working with each individual provides a chance to teach such memory aids and focus. Repetition is also key to retention so meeting with the student often to help with the memorization is necessary.
