I am currently studying in the Master's of Social Responsibility program at St. Cloud State University. I hold my B.A. in Anthropology, also from St. Cloud State University. This qualifies me to tutor in subjects such as anthropology (linguistic anthropology, biological anthropology, cultural anthropology and archaeology), sociology, history, writing and public speaking. I have previous experience teaching, both as a collegiate level teaching assistant and as an outdoor leadership facilitator for all ages.

I am outgoing, fun and patient. I have many interests, but teaching is my passion! I believe that attitude is everything and that keeping things positive is proactive. I am always punctual and will make sure that you get the most out of your time with me.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Anthropology

I have earned my B.A. degree in Anthropology. I was taught in the four-field approach. This means that I am competent in the four major fields of anthropology which include: biological anthropology, cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology and archaeology. I have written numerous research papers, done lab work and completed my archaeology field school.

Archaeology

I have successfully completed my archaeology field school as a requirement for my anthropology degree program. This included learning archaeological surveying, digging, mapping, artifact collection, interpretation and reporting. I have also completed several college-level archaeology courses, including history of archaeology and lab processing. In addition I have also done volunteer interpretive work at Kathio State Park's Minnesota Archaeology Day.

Bible Studies

I have taught several bible studies, VBS (vacation bible school) and have attended church my entire life. I have also taken college level philosophy of religion courses.

Cooking

I have loved cooking my whole life. Taking care of my body is very important to me and I know how to prepare healthy meals. My favorite is cooking using fresh vegetables and herbs from my garden and fresh eggs from my chickens. I can prepare anything from breakfast to dinner, snacks to Thanksgiving meals for the whole family.

Public Speaking

I have over four years of experience in pubic speaking, giving presentations and doing large group instruction. I have taken college-level public speaking courses and have also been a teaching assistant for one of those courses. Public speaking used to terrify me until I joined Speech Team in high school, specifically so that I could get over my fears. It worked! It took a lot not to quit, but I tried my best and improved my scores until they were near perfect.

Sociology

I hold my undergraduate degree in Anthropology and am currently working on my Masters in Social Responsibility, focusing in Sociology. This means that I am taking graduate-level Sociology classes, and hold a 3.83 GPA. I am passionate about the social sciences and love to learn about and teach both anthropology and sociology.

Study Skills

I have experience tutoring and teaching children from 4th grade through high school. I also have several years of successful experience as a student myself, and am currently working towards my M.S. degree where I have benefited from my study skills more than ever.

Yoga

I have been practicing yoga for the past four years and have studied under several instructors. I feel that yoga has the potential to be both healing and strengthening, meditative and awakening. I practice yoga at an intermediate level and have taught at the beginner level.
