I love working one-on-one with students! My passion is creating learning settings where students can shine and grow. Students are encouraged to follow their own interests. While I like tutoring both math and music, I am particularly interested in the connection between music and math.
Piano lessons include understanding rhythm, listening to familiar and unfamiliar sounds, and building simple percussion instruments from found materials.

I lived in South America for several years, and taught in a Spanish/English high school for several more years.

I grew up in a musical family and had piano and other lessons as a child; in high school I read everything I could about the relationship between music and math. I studied piano as an adult as well.
I have given piano lessons since the 1960s, and have studied piano pedagogy on my own. Teaching is a beautiful experience for me, working with each individual according to their needs and experience.

I have given piano lessons to children and adults since 1967. I use a variety of beginning instruction books (Bastien, Chester, etc.) plus Bartok's Mikrokosmos as a wonderful teaching tool. I have developed teaching aids that help students learn to read music and create their own music. I work with parents and students about effective practicing between lessons.
