I am a Jamaican and I have been teaching for more than twenty eight years. I have taught ages 6-18. For the past seven years I have taught 15 students in Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies Science and Communications Task to ages 10-12, preparing them for for the Government Examination in Jamaica which is the Grade Six Achievement Test that that all students must sit before they can be placed in High School . My students have done well in that all of them were placed in the schools of their first choice. They have done in well in High School.
I have a Certificate , a Diploma in teaching English Language, English Literature and Reading. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Educational Administration.
In tutoring I usually do a one to one approach. I talk with the students and their parents to find out the problems an/or level of difficulty that a particular student may have. I examine the students writing books and text books. I give a diagnostic test to ascertain the level at which that particular student is in order to plan a program for that student. I follow up on all my lessons. If I am teaching (say Vocabulary)and I realize that the student that I am with is nor understanding I quickly find another approach. I am very versatile and I have many methods of teaching. I am extremely patient and I love when I take a student from one point to another. I
I am an excellent teacher of English Language which is my specialized area. I would love the opportunity to tutor ages 8-10. The parent and the student will benefit greatly from my instruction . The student will make progress and will become very confident and master the subject. I believe that 'every child can learn and every child must learn' Based on this mantra I plan for student development.
