University of Minnesota Duluth (Master's)
Hello, My name is Sarah and I am about to complete the final requirements for a MS Chemistry degree at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. I was a teaching assistant there for the past 2 years, teaching both General Chemistry 1 and 2. I have always enjoyed helping students to grasp a difficult concept. I haven't always loved math and science. In fact, when I was in middle school, I couldn't stand math. Nothing could frustrate me more! I didn't understand what they were asking and why oh why did I need to know this anyway? However, through the the patience of a professor and a remedial college math class, I began to not only understand but to enjoy mathematics! My point is this--I understand the frustration of not understanding something that is so easy for other people. I will not give up. I will try as many ways as I can--including some I may have to borrow--to better explain the concept causing difficulty. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I was a Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructor for several years, beginning in 2004. I swam for the Rochester Swim Club Orcas throughout middle school and the beginning of high school. If you or your child would like private swim lessons, please feel free to contact me.
