For the ESL student, I have helped refine the American-English accent and enhance speaking, reading, and writing skills. ESL/ESOL

I've enjoyed teaching reading, writing and speaking English to both older and younger students. I use unique and engaging methods to keep students motivated to learn and use their developing skills. GED

I have created PowerPoint presentations (about 4 per year for 5 years) for work, academics, small business marketing, and personal use and can help you design an engaging presentation with your audience and purpose in mind.

Nursing

I have provided tutoring for nursing students in various classes and have also helped students prepare for standardized exams, including the NLN on which I scored 99% in all three content areas. Praxis

Prealgebra

Since math is my favorite subject to learn and to tutor, I welcome any opportunity to help a student enjoy and do well in this subject. Along the way, we'll work on study habits and confidence-building, which will serve the student well in any subject, in any situation. Let's get started!

Proofreading

I help high school students prepare for the ACT and SAT exams, both of which include sections on English grammar. I also review dissertations for doctoral students and am familiar with APA and MLA citation styles. In addition, I have worked in the IT field as a project manager, creating analysis and recommendation reports for customers and stakeholders. PSAT

For over five years, I have helped students prepare for and excel on the PSAT test in all subject areas.

Violin

I've enjoyed playing the violin since the third grade and would welcome the opportunity to teach beginning violinists of any age to play this wonderfully versatile instrument.

Writing

Writing is one of the most important skills we use - in school, in work, in life. As a tutor specializing in standardized exams, I am well-versed in correct punctuation usage, effective essay-writing, and logical organization of ideas. I also contract with Pearson Education as a grade 6-12 essay scorer and with Barron's as a manual evaluator. I help students enhance their skills and strive for clear, concise writing in all that they do.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
