I am a licensed Elementary Education teacher. I am also have additional licensure in ELL, Special Education-Learning Disabilities and has taken all course work for autism license. I worked as a full-time ELL teacher at Cambridge Isanti schools working with K-12 students for two years and have been a substitute teacher for four school districts K-12 all subject areas for 4 years. I'm currently teaching in Japan with the Department of Defense. I will be returning permanently to Minnesota at the end of this school year mid- June and will be available to tutor this spring upon my return. I have the ability to work with all ages and have a gift of empowering my students to feel excited about their learning. I graduated with a BA in Psychology in 1991from Hamline University and worked for 15 plus years in the field of adult mental health. So teaching is a second career for me. If distance to teaching sight exceeds 40 miles the hourly rate will be negotiable and may increase $5 to $10 more per hour depending on distance.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
