Looking for an experienced ACT Tutor with a track record of results? Look no further. I have been teaching and tutoring since 1998 with a track record of student success and achievement.
While new to the WyzAnt company, explaining the few hours listed here, I have worked with many students and tutored countless hours through the years. I have an MA in Communications and high school and college classroom teaching experience, and I believe one-on-one tutoring offers students the best possible training.
For ACT students, my goal is to help them feel calm, confident, and comfortable with the test. To accomplish this, I create an individualized plan based on their strengths, diagnostic testing, and college goals. Each unique plan is designed to achieve the best possible results in each section of the test; working from current strengths and improving overall test taking skills. Many students see several point bumps in all subjects and their overall ACT composite. Students leave me confident and ready to accomplish their goals.
"Mrs. C. was a huge help to not only my standardized testing, but my college search as well. She offers a great service that is definitely worth your money. If I had to go back and do the process again, I would do it. With her help, I was able to feel completely confident and prepared for ACT's tricks. I am going to recommend her to anyone who needs help with their ACT scores." Annelise, ACT prep senior

I have a Masters Degree in Communications and years teaching in this field. My approach to the ACT English section is to help students understand the best timing, triage and test strategies to accomplish their goal in this section.
Together we work on helping the student learn to approach most questions in 30 seconds and to quickly determine if the answer meets all the needed criteria to be correct. Is the answer complete, consistent, clear, and concise?

We work on timing and triage strategies. Starting from the student's college goals we set a subject specific goal and learn exactly how many questions the student needs to get right to accomplish this goal. The student will learn which questions to skip and which to attempt on test day. The student learns timing strategies for each particular type of math problem.
The student will take 8 practice ACTs with me and from those we create a tailored math homework schedule to work with the student's strengths and shore up any weaknesses. We review the 100 most covered topics on the ACT math section and customize the math tutoring very specifically to the student based on how easy and hard they find each particular type of question.
The average student will see a several point bump in this section after working with me. A recent student achieved a perfect 36!
The student will learn how to scan and quickly read the passages. She will learn how to use keywords, question stems and process of elimination to move quickly and correctly through the test.
The student learns how to correctly triage a passage and order questions from easiest to hardest in each passage and get the timing of the test under control.
Even the most reluctant reader and test anxious students see improvement using these strategies.
The typical student sees a several point bump in scores on this section after working with me. I teach students timing, triage and test strategies.
The student will learn how to approach each of the three different types of passages (Experiments, Charts and Graphs, and Fighting Scientists). The student will learn how to identify every question on the ACT as either a look it up, analysis or prediction question. The student will learn how to use those discoveries and process of elimination to answer any question on this section.
I help student's gain confidence in this section by teaching them how they can find every answer from the information available on the test itself, very little previous science knowledge required.
