Students benefit from summer tutoring both by reviewing past material and learning new material. Whether your student wants to keep up with his/her skills, or learn something new I can help!
I currently hold a bachelor's degree in Biology and special education. I also hold a MN short-term sub license and will be obtaining my teaching license in special education within the next few months. My experience includes: working as a paraprofessional in both the high school and middle school setting, science and study skills instructor for a government funded after school program, and an adult literacy instructor.
I believe that good teaching, requires a respectful student-teacher relationship that encourages students to take an active part in their own learning process. When working with students one-on-one, I encourage an interactive, discussion-oriented process that challenges students to develop their own ideas and to express them both verbally and in writing. My primary goals are to model intellectual inquiry and to provide students the opportunity to practice critical thinking for themselves, thereby “lighting the fire” that makes learning exciting!
