I lead a small group Bible Study at New Life Community Church in Norton Shores for adults and youth. (Five years)
I have previously led small groups and Sunday School classes at Fellowship Reformed Church, Muskegon, with adults and youth. (fifteen years)
I have had experience in teaching adults in the Naval Reserve for seventeen years.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have worked with Elementary age children for three years, particularly reading and am currently working on my teaching certificate for K-6. I hold a master's degree in higher education, which qualifies me to substitute teach in Michigan. Currently awaiting PESG certification also. I have passed the WORKKEYS testing for math, English and reading for understanding with a GOLD level.

General Music

While I was in high school, I was in band and choir. I have continued in vocal music, and can read music. I appreciate nearly all kinds of music; in fact, I find that the world would be very, very dull without it. Over the years, I have been able to develop harmonies just by listening, without having to actually read the notes. That was hard for me, but now it is second nature. Study Skills

As a lifelong learner, I have developed study skills which have served me tremendously. Studying does not mean memorizing, but actually knowing the material, especially in the context of your experiences. One thing I do not subscribe to is teaching for the test. Learning is about a lot more than taking a test. If you cannot use what you have learned, then the learning is useless. A good student needs to be able to apply the subject to everyday usage. Religion

I am a layperson who has taught Biblical courses for the past twenty years. I am by no means a scholar in the Bible, but have a good grasp of Christianity. Additionally, I have had two undergraduate classes during my education at Aquinas College, which have greatly enchanced my learning. Additionally, I do a great deal of reading and internet study.

Bible Studies

I am not a Biblical scholar in any sense of the word, but I have taught many classes at my churches in 20 years. I find it fascinating and in addition to studying the Bible, I usually go into the history of the area, what it was like, how the people lived, etc.

Business

My undergraduate degree from Aquinas College is in Business Administration. My coursework there included subjects such as management, economics, marketing, human resource management, public speaking, corporate finance and accounting. The last two are not my best subjects, but I do understand the concepts.

My graduate work at Kaplan University in Higher Education had a college finance component, so that is very familiar for me.
