I've just recently returned to the States after spending a year living in Antigua, Guatemala studying and practicing my Spanish. During my time abroad I spent 24 weeks studying Spanish in a 4 hour one-on-one session 5 days a week. Additionally I lived with a Guatemalan family and had the opportunity to really improve in the area of conversation. In addition to this experience I had 3 years of Spanish in high school, a year of college Spanish at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX and a year of college Spanish from Spring Arbor University in Jackson, MI. I am currently still enrolled in Spanish classes here at college and am continuing to grow in my abilities.
I have a very engaging style for tutoring, very conversational and interactive rather than textbook or worksheet heavy (although sometimes these are necessary as well). I like to mold tutor sessions around topics of interest or necessity which varies from student to student - for example some students prefer to focus on building conversation and others need heavy practice in grammar or reading/writing, so I am flexible and will adjust my methods accordingly.
