Hello. My name is Julian, and I spend half of my time in Southfield and the other half abroad. I have a degree in English Literature, French, and TESL, as well as various experiences that are extremely helpful in a tutoring environment. I am a recent graduate of Indiana State University where I played football and discovered my love for languages while playing to put myself through school. While in France, I pass my time as a student and a football coach. I dabble in English tutoring and teaching also. I will likely leave for China in order to teach English soon; however, I plan to return to France in order to complete a Masters in either translation or English teaching. My dream is to live and work abroad, and I believe that I can achieve this dream through helping others with topics related to language!
Outside of that, I am a fun guy! I take tutoring very seriously but at the same time, I don't believe a great deal of learning can take place in a stressed and uncomfortable learning environment. In my free time I enjoy lifting weights and watching The Simpsons, both of which, ironically, I attribute to my French language abilities.
As your tutor, I will assess your level and create a custom “game plan” from what we discover are your strengths and weaknesses. With French, however, I recommend that you have at least a basic level of the subject so that we can better utilize our time (i.e. the basics of French are mainly those of the memory. By “basic level” I mean French 101 or at least one French course that has either been completed or in progress. If you are outside of what I have described, we can still work together but gains will obviously be a bit lower).
