Stemming from my extensive study of French language and art, I have near-native fluency and a deep understanding of French culture. My education includes a B.A. in French, a valid Teaching Certificate and a Master's in French from UM, where I taught first and second year courses. My two years of living experience in Paris included work at Unesco and graduate studies at the Sorbonne.
At a private arts academy, I successfully taught four levels of high school French for six years. My weekly tutorial sessions were key to the success of students of varying abilities within each class. With my help, students were able to overcome any type of learning problem, improve their grades, and truly enjoy their study of French.
With this experience, I am confident in my tutoring skills. I am personally interested in individual instruction, as it allows for learning at the student's own pace and learning style. It is exciting for me to share an ability for self-expression in French, and see the spark of understanding that leads to high achievement. I am adept at identifying the particular level of each student and pinpointing areas of difficulty. I am able to relate my lessons to the textbook and to class instruction on any level, providing clear explanation and practice.
I am strongly committed to the value of world language study in American education and I will work patiently and enthusiastically for your mastery of French.
