To anyone who would like a clearer understanding,
I have experience as an automobile mechanic. As a mechanic, I discovered that there is much more to successful repairs than merely turning bolts. A considerable amount of math, and even chemistry, are involved in diagnosing problems of modern-day vehicles. I have spent time as a substitute teacher. I have spent a summer in Europe. I took four years of French in high school, and went to France by myself, when I was 19 years old. It was either "sink or swim," as far as speaking the language was concerned, and I swam. I have a number of articles posted online. The subjects of these articles range from nutrition to public education, including articles about the state of the automobile repair industry. I am able to impress upon students how what they are now learning can help them, later in life.
My experience with tutoring includes working with a ten-year-old girl who was making her first visit to the United States from her native Thailand. I have also worked with a six-year-old lad from Taiwan. His parents were in the U.S., so that they could obtain college educations from our schools. I have spent a considerable amount of time simply talking to young people.
