I have a BA in classical studies from Hillsdale College, a strong interest in all history, and at least a familiarity with literature and philosophy. For my degree, I focused on Latin but have a solid understanding of the basic grammar, syntax, and vocabulary of Ancient Greek as well. Beyond this, my studies focused on the literature, history, philosophy, and overall culture of Greece and Rome (especially c. 1000 BC - 200 AD) along with varied levels of examination for the times between then and the present age.

I am here mainly for anyone needing some help with:
-Reading/writing
-Latin
-English

I am currently working on an MA in counseling at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary; theology is another interest and pursuit of mine.

For beginners and intermediates, I can also help out with:
-Western history
-Theology

About me: I was born in Dearborn, Michigan, in 1990; since then, I have traveled extensively (22 countries and 6 continents), living in England and China each for three years as well as participating in an archaeological dig in Romania and exploring opportunities in South Africa. I am a Christian from a family of six, a fan of music from classical to symphonic metal, a novice musician, and a fan of the outdoors.

Latin

“Otium sine litteris mors est et hominis vivi sepultura.” (Seneca, Epist 82.3).

Latin was what persuaded me to major in Classical Studies. It is a kind of pleasurable pain in that, though relatively difficult to learn, the hard work pays off not only in the satisfaction of being able to translate ancient works (even at a very slow pace), but in developing yourself -- disciplining your mind and training your analytical and logical side. The study of Latin gives an appreciation for and command over language, the vessel of our thoughts; whoever ventures to undertake it finds a path to overall self-improvement.

The native tongue of the Romans, the medium through which centuries of medieval thought found immortality, and the base of our own language and all romance languages, Latin deserves a student.
