My experiences include over seventeen years in Detroit Public schools as a 5th grade teacher in the content areas of mathematics, social studies, science and especially language arts. In addition, I have over 8 years experience as an adjunct faculty member in the content area of English composition and research at Wayne County Community College and Baker College. I am able to understand the demands put upon students today in their formal education. My ability to provide the background of the college environment for students in elementary, middle, and high school allows me to make connections to the demands of being successful in mastering academic skills.
