Hello,

My name is Vincent and I have been working very hard over the last five years through Wyzant to help students of all ages and backgrounds increase their grades and subject IQ's and in general feel better about their capability to learn Math and Science. I accomplish this with a unique blend of reliability, professionalism, knowledge, personality and most importantly patience. Even though I have received a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and therefore have a solid understanding of any subject connected to the pulse of Science, I have not forgotten what if feels like to not know something. I use this fact in conjunction with a personality developed over a childhood in the film and video industry to help students realize their strengths and focus on their obtainable future and have a good time doing so. Learning can be fun and when that light bulb goes off, it can be very empowering and instill a sense of interest and confidence that can spread like a brushfire to many aspects of one's life. Over the last five years I have had the opportunity and pleasure of working with countless students/parents whom will attest to my dedication and efficacy. I am confident that given the chance, I can add you or your child to my list.

ACT Math

The ACT Math section is nothing more than an IQ test in Math up to and including the Algebra levels of understanding. While strategies do play a role in improving your score, they pale in comparison to a solid understanding of the fundamentals. I work hard to make sure my students increase there overall math IQ within the context of strategies and this inevitably leads to higher scores.

Algebra 2

My approach to Algebra 2 is always two fold. I work hard to make sure a student has the basic skills to realistically progress throughout the class while maintaining current work levels. I do this through a set of uniquely written practice problems and exercises that I have written that I can send off the clock that are designed to increase overall Math IQ.

ASVAB

Doing well on the ASVAB is all about having a fundamental yet confident understanding of Math, English, and Science. Doing practice ASVAB questions will only get you so far. What I offer is a basic assessment to gauge the level of understanding of each of the subjects so the proper starting point is realized so future learning is sustainable and long lasting.

Biology

I offer a detailed understanding of cellular processes such as Photosynthesis, respiration and the biochemistry that involves basic cellular function and transcription and translation.

Calculus

My approach to Calculus is always two fold. I work hard to make sure a student has the basic skills to realistically progress throughout the class while maintaining current work levels. I do this through a set of uniquely written practice problems and exercises that I have written that I can send off the clock that are designed to increase overall Math IQ leading ultimately to the Calculus level. I also have check point quizzes so if given enough time I can show a tangible record of progression. I have been successful with this approach because it does not require hours a day, but it does require a little bit everyday.

Chemistry

My approach to Chemistry is always two fold. I work hard to make sure a student has the basic skills to realistically progress throughout the class while maintaining current work levels. I do this through a set of uniquely written practice problems and exercises that I have written that I can send off the clock that are designed to increase overall Chemistry IQ. I also have check point quizzes so if given enough time I can show a tangible record of progression. I have been successful with this approach because it does not require hours a day, but it does require a little bit everyday.

Organic Chemistry

Organic chemistry is regular Chemistry in three dimensions. I work hard to ensure that all of my students understand enough general chemistry to be able realistically make the transition to Organic. I do this with a detailed review of electronegativity, lewis structures and formal charges. Then I slowly make a transition to reaction mechanisms and tendencies and other concepts in Organic Chemistry so that all future work has a foundation of understanding.

Physics

My approach to Physics is always two fold. I work hard to make sure a student has the basic skills to realistically progress throughout the class while maintaining current work levels. I do this through a set of uniquely written practice problems and exercises that I have written that I can send off the clock that are designed to increase overall Physics IQ. Concepts included are dimensional analysis, the metric system, and basic trigonometry. I also have check point quizzes so if given enough time I can show a tangible record of progression. I have been successful with this approach because it does not require hours a day, but it does require a little bit everyday.

Prealgebra

My approach to Prealgebra is always two fold. I work hard to make sure a student has the basic skills to realistically progress throughout the class while maintaining current work levels. Once I assess a students Math IQ, I put them into the appropriate starting position along the progressive math highway to success. I do this through a set of uniquely written practice problems and exercises that I can send off the clock that are designed to increase overall Math IQ. I also have check point quizzes so if given enough time I can show a tangible record of progression. I have been successful with this approach because it does not require hours a day, but it does require a little bit everyday.

Spanish

Studying a foreign language is all about being able to be connected to more people in the world. My approach to Spanish for the beginner is simple. I work very hard at the beginning to make sure that my students learn how to pronounce the words and expressions properly and with eye contact and fluidity. Next i move on to the anatomy of a sentence. A sentence expresses an idea and that idea is made up of individual words acting together and each has a part and an identity: noun, pronoun, subject, verb, etc. I will work very hard to make sure you understand this concept and then all you have to do is fill in the blanks with memorization or access to your English/Spanish " diccionario."
