Hello! My name is Miranda and I'd love to help your child!

I graduated from WMU, Cum Laude, with my BS in Elementary Education. I minored in math, science, English and Early Childhood Education. I am considered a Highly Qualified teacher in all subjects PreK-5 and 6-8th grade Language Arts/English. I started graduate work at WMU majoring in Science Education. After a few semesters, I realized that while I do have a love for science, my passion fell with reading. So I am now at Spring Arbor working on my MA in Reading, when I graduate I will be considered a Reading Specialist.

I spent my last two years working on reading and math skills with third through fifth grade students that were considered at risk. I formed awesome bonds with each and every student. They all showed significant progress in their reading levels, comprehension, fluency, accuracy, vocabulary as well as a boost of confidence. Unfortunately, the school was a great distance away and so I spent much of my time on the road. I have a three year old daughter and wanted to spend more time with her, so I decided to find work closer to home.

Elementary (K-6th)

I hold a Michigan Provisional Teaching Certificate for Elementary Education PreK-5th grade. If needed, I can provide a copy of my certificate or send a link to the Michigan DOE website that shows verification.

ADD/ADHD

I have worked with several students that have ADD/ADHD and I'm used to making accommodations. Lessons geared toward more kinesthetic learners will allow the student to get up and move while still learning. Sometimes something as simple as chewing gum or fidgeting with a rubber band will help increase focus.
