Toxicology, pharmacology, and forensic analytical tutoring

Tutoring in Biological Sciences and Math.

I am a biologist specializing in forensic toxicology, biochemistry, and math (algebra and calculus, BSc) (Ohio State Univ.). I worked in human vaccines (Michigan Public Health), medical diagnostics quality control and quality assurance (Abbott Diagnostics), neurotoxicology (Univ. of Michigan), and dioxin environmental toxicology (Reye's syndrome animal model, Ohio State and Michigan State Univ.).

I am experienced in chromatography (i.e., GC-MS, HPLC, TLC), spectrometry (i.e., visible, UV, IR), and breath testing devices (i.e., Datamaster, Intoxilyzer 8000, and preliminary breath testing devices).

Currently I provide forensic consulting to help resolve scientific-legal issues between lawyers, judges, and clients (e.g., DUIs, DUIDs, medical conditions and their interactions). I provide basic understanding in drug absorption, distribution, liver metabolism, and elimination and relevant biological effects.

For students, I initially assess the level of understanding and difficulties through discussions, test scores, any relevant communications, learning objectives, obstacles, etc. I then establish an individual's remedial, expected, or advanced training plan/s to achieve goals. I emphasize positive learning experience in an effective and informal manner.

Physiology

My doctorate in pharmacology required three quarters of advanced medical physiology. The underpinnings of any pharmacological response almost always involves a physiological response. The characteristic dose-response paradigm of pharmaoclogy involves a dose-dependent physiological response, e.g., adrenalin stimulation and cholinergic depression in heart rate are proportional to the pharmacological dose of adrenalin or acetylcholine, respectively.

ADD/ADHD

My past teaching experience have included training individuals in basic science, math, and through religious education. These students ranged in development from attention deficit/attention deficit-hyperactive disorders to A+ advanced students. I adapt my approach to effectively communicate goals and objectives to specified students. Special cases, e.g., ADD/ADHD, are focused on individual needs and 1-on-1 teaching while maintaining necessary discipline with psychological adaptation/s.

Biostatistics

I am a biological scientist-researcher (pharmacology-toxicology PhD, biochemistry post doctoral, industrial R&D and applications (Abbott Diagnostics) with detailed experience in experimental design and testing, >30 years. Linear Algebra

I minored in mathematics and completed training through differential equations as an undergraduate student. I've applied linear regression analyses in both class work and analyzing biolgical data to evaluate goodness of fit based on visual inspection and r^2 values.

Microbiology

My pharmacology graduate and undergraduate training required two quarters of medical microbiology. Professionally I worked 10 years as a scientist and unit chief with Michigan Public Health reviewing, developing, and optimizing the downstream production of pertussis, tetanus, and anthrax vaccines. These vaccines inherently required respective large scale microbial fermentation, aseptic and sterile techniques, and extensive downstream processes to achieve FDA vaccine approval.

Pharmacology

I have my PhD (1979, Ohio State U.) in medical pharmacology and have been professionally active in this area for 35 years.

Nutrition

I am a pharmacologist and toxicologist with analytical, technical, and diangostic evaluations of drug(s) and toxic substance(s) affecting individual health, endocrine regulation, and metabolism influence on nutrition.
