Hi Everyone,

My name is Jennifer and I am looking to provide tutoring in the areas of special needs and/or psychology.

I am a current graduate student at Capella University studying for a double master's degree in Clinical and Child & Adolescent Psychology with an anticipated graduation date of June 2014.

I currently hold a Bachelor degree in General Psychology as well as two associate's degrees in Pre-Special Education and General Science.

I am also a mother of 4, 2 who have special needs. My son has AD/HD, Asperger's and sensory processing disorder and is 10 years old. My daughter has AD/HD, PDD-NOS and also sensory processing disorder. I have 10 collective years of experience dealing with these disorders both in the job field and on a personal basis.

I was a Behavior Intervention Assistant in a public school system for 1 year and also worked part time in the Child Development Center at University of Michigan Dearborn.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Autism

To help a student with autism one must adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials for the purpose of
supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives, create a variety of documents and materials (e.g. games, schedules, visual supports, observation and success logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and promoting student growth and development. I can also implement instructional plans and behavioral plans designed by IEP team for the
purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.

I have monitored students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments including both 1 on 1 and embedded in class routines for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment and participated in the determination, development, implementation and evaluation of behavioral, instructional, and/or curricular management for eligible students for the purpose of improving the quality of students outcomes.

I can also perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
