My name is Susan and I would like to be your tutor and help you succeed in the subject that troubles you the most! I graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of Michigan, worked in industry for over 10 years and then decided to stay home with my newborn ever since. I have several years experience tutoring grammar and middle school children, especially those with special needs. I have been a one on one aide in Autistic classrooms. I have tutored ESL students for several years on a volunteer basis. I also have been a substitute teacher in California before I moved back to Michigan a few years ago.
I'd describe my teaching style as investigative and try to treat problems as puzzles to solve. I sometimes use mnemonic devices and flash cards as study aids mixed in with other methods tailored to the student's learning style. My experience as a parent provides the best background for a job helping students in diverse areas. Currently, my daughter is in high school. Therefore, I am very aware of how advanced and difficult the curriculum is. My interests are broad as is my background, I enjoy working with children and I look forward to the shared challenges ahead!
