With experience in traditional learning environments from my time in the classroom, nontraditional environments from my time as a counselor at Kalamazoo Nature Center Summer Camp and the newest environments as an Education Technology assistant at Western Michigan University, I believe that there are a lot of ways to deliver meaningful learning experiences to a student, from the simple lecture to a hands-on adventure!
As a tutor, I believe that a hands-on, active approach is the best way to make use of a limited time frame, and will be happy to develop activities that will have your student applying concepts and facilitating their own continuing learning. I also think that a conversation about a subject can work wonders with comprehension. This is why the one-on-one environment of a tutoring session is so exciting to me as an educator; I love talking and teaching about English, Writing, History Technology and Acting!
I have a BA in English Secondary Education, with a History minor, and publications experience.
