I began teaching in 1984 as a special education teacher at the high school level. I have worked with students that have disabilities, such as cognitive impairment, emotional impairment, and learning disabilities for the past 28.5 years. I love to tutor in all subjects. I am very patient with students and am able to help motivate them in their school endeavors. I have excellent skills in 9th & 10th grade English, Social Studies, Science, Health, and Math. I have taught a variety of classes in a special education setting, such as English, History, Social Studies, Health, Math, Earth Science, and Biology and am very familiar with both 8th and 10th grade English content I have also taught reading and comprehension skills.
I have retired from public school, but I want to continue to be involved with children in a meaningful way. What better way than to help students be all that they can be and to progress in their classes? I will be available after school and in the evenings for tutoring and during the day for homeschooling. Ninth and tenth grade, middle school, and elementary subjects are the ones that I am most familiar with.
I am also familiar with the ACT and have several resources to help students prepare to take this test.
I am familiar with direct instruction and I am more than willing to provide supplemental and reinforcing materials for your student in any subject that they might need help in. I have always loved teaching and being with children, and now I want to continue teaching, but on a smaller scale.
