Hi there! My name is Jenna...

Learning should be a fun, pleasant journey. We all learn through different methods. Some people are visual learners, some are audio learners and some are hands on types of learners. The goal is to discover what method works best for each individual and present material in such a way that it will captivate their mind. To truly learn something, it is not just about memorizing but actually grasping the concept. To help someone understand a concept is to empower them. When someone feels empowered, there is no limit as to what they can achieve. We are all on this learning journey together and I believe it is essential to, 'lift as you climb'.

Creative ways of teaching are what I strive for. I have been a registered nurse for ten + years. I am also currently a student with a major online university in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Christian Studies. I have an abundance of experience in sewing, crocheting and other needlecrafts as well as piano, flute and music theory. I have successfully taught several people of a wide age range and am looking forward to continuing my teaching path. As a mother of five, studying with my children has been one of the greatest experiences I have had. I am a very patient, easy-going person and get along well with anyone.

I have an open door policy and welcome any questions. I may not always have all of the answers, but if I do not know something I know that I can find out. Our learning never ends and we have so much to learn from one another.

Peace...

Jenna

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I have an extensive amount of biblical knowledge as I am currently a student with a major online university pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Christian Studies. I have completed numerous courses in Bible studies in both the Old and New Testaments. I have a 4.0 average and only have a handful of classes to go. My family is also full of ministers. I have also served as co-youth pastor in our church as well as lead children's church and taught Sunday School for many years. My heart is called to ministry and that is the direction I am heading.

Elementary (K-6th)

As a mother of 5, I have spent many hours assisting elementary aged students with homework. I have also helped in my children's classrooms. During the summer months, I also see to it that my children continue their learning and we have many at home lessons which have greatly helped them with their education. The early years are essential as these are their informative learning block years and I believe that a nurturing environment and patience are of the highest importance.

Flute

I have been playing the flute for 30 years. I started playing in elementary school and played in our class A high school band and orchestra as first chair until I graduated. After graduation, I continued to play for our church. I have tutored privately in flute and have a great love for music.

Microsoft Publisher

I have several years of experience working with Microsoft Publisher. One area I use this program in is for creating graphic arts for our church. I also have created multiple flyers for multiple occasions. It's absolutely one of my favorite programs to work with because of the ease of use and user-friendliness.

Music History

As part of my formal piano lessons, learning music history was part of the routine. I had 14 years of lessons and after completing high school, went on to take music courses, including music history, in college. I also learned a great deal of music history while playing the flute all throughout high school in concert band and orchestra. As part of the curriculum for teaching my own piano students, music history is required as that assists in a well-rounded musical education.

NCLEX

I am registered nurse with nearly 10 years of experience. I have taken the NCLEX at both the LPN and RN levels and passed successfully the first time with each one. I have a wide range of specialties and have helped more recent nursing students study for their NCLEX with very positive results. I also know of several study guides that have proven to be beneficial for those who are studying for the NCLEX.

Needlework

I started doing needlework at a very young age and have completed many projects. Some of those projects include: embroidery, cross-stitch, hand-quilting, and hand sewing as well as several other categories. I have entered projects in county fairs and won first place. I also have an extensive knowledge of a variety of stitches and tools that people can utilize in their creations.

Nutrition

Nutrition was a core nursing requirement while I attended nursing school. I also have been required to educate many patients as a registered nurse. Furthermore, I have five children and see to it that their nutrition is well maintained.

Pharmacology

Pharmacology was a core nursing requirement during my time in nursing school. I also must be very aware of the names of medications, classifications, dosages and how to calculate dosages as well as drip rates for IV medications because my area of expertise in nursing is trauma, ER and pediatrics.

Piano

I am 42 years young and have been playing the piano since I was 4 years of age. I took professional lessons from the age of 4 years until I was 18 years old. I competed in classical music and won several first place awards including a national competition. I have also taught piano for many years and play for our church as well as another church on a professional level.

Public Speaking

I have a significant amount of public speaking experience. I have given motivational speeches as well as delivered sermons, been a spokesperson for a charitable group and performed a public speech raising awareness for a specific disease process as well. I have also coached others and plan to continue on this path as I am called to ministry. I have received very positive feedback and am very comfortable with public speaking.

Religion

I have an extensive amount of biblical knowledge as I am currently a student with a major online university pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Christian Studies. I have completed numerous courses in Bible studies in both the Old and New Testaments. I have a 4.0 average and only have a handful of classes to go. My family is also full of ministers. I have also served as co-youth pastor in our church as well as lead children's church and taught Sunday School for many years. My heart is called to ministry and that is the direction I am heading.

Sewing

I have been sewing by hand for about 37 years and have been sewing by machine for about 35 years. I have experience in making anything from doll clothes to clothing for people to quilting and home decorating. I have taught several people how to sew including my own children. I have also sewn on a professional level and sold the quilts and other goods that I made.

Study Skills

I have been a higher education student for many years and have developed successful studying skills. One of the best tools I can recommend is a book entitled, 'The Master Student'. I have shared this guide with several people and it has proven to be worthwhile. I also graduated valedictorian from my nursing school and held many study sessions for upcoming students. I also helped my children to develop dynamic studying skills and they have achieved phenomenal academic goals.
