Hello there! My name is Jason, I am a Doctoral Physical Therapy student at Simmons College in Boston, MA. I have my BS in Kinesiological Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park and spent 4 years in sales with over 300 hours of extensive training in public speaking and interviewing skills. I have spent the last 3 years focused on mathematics and science through my studies as a physical therapy student so it is fresh on my mind and I can relate to the stressors of being in school! Being able to adapt to the different studying styles of students is a big strength of mine and I have a lot of various techniques to help students study for their more challenging subjects. I have tutored students from middle through high school, college, and graduate students in a vast range of subjects.
As a high school student in Silver Spring, MD, I took International Baccalaureate (IB) classes in physics, world history, English, math, and research studies so I can assist with study skills, time management and preparing for exams.
I am certified to tutor subjects including prealgebra, algebra I, geometry, SAT math and anatomy as well as training for fitness events such as 5 & 10Ks up to marathons, triathlons and obstacle course racing! Feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance! I look forward to hearing from you and I wish you all the best,

Algebra 1

Aside from being qualified through Wyzant in Algebra I, Geometry, and SAT math, I excelled in Algebra I and all sciences between high school, college and graduate school. I hope this helps!

As a doctoral physical therapy graduate student, the majority of my studies focus on the human body and how it moves and interacts with the environment, as well as how to prevent injury. Between hands-on experiences with a human cadaver for three months and in-depth research on the human body, I am very knowledgable in human anatomy. I have spent the last three years studying the way our bodies work!

I played baseball for 10 years and for my high school baseball team. I've coached little league baseball and understand the rules, fundamentals, and mechanics to base-running, throwing, fielding and batting. I have given instruction in batting and fielding as well as held numerous fielding practices for teams.

I am a doctoral physical therapy student at Simmons College in Boston, MA. In the past, I have been a certified personal trainer through ACE in college at the University of Maryland. Since then, I have trained for and trained others in various physical activities including 5ks, 10ks, half marathons, marathons, triathlons, and obstacle course racing. I am an avid weight lifter and fitness enthusiast.

While I am qualified in geometry, I started as a architect major in my undergraduate studies before switching to kinesiology and ultimately physical therapy where I am now. I love working with numbers, and geometry is one of my stronger subjects.

Between excelling in pre-algebra, algebra and geometry as well as SAT math, I have tutored many students over the last 10 years in mathematics. Math and Science are my two strongest subjects, and I have a unique passion for learning and teaching them to others.

I have been called upon by students, classmates and colleagues to proofread essays, research papers and resumes. My ability to see what the average person cannot see in a paper and pick it out for grammar, punctuation and word-usage corrections has been incredibly beneficial to those who utilize me to proofread their works. I also briefly spent time as a teacher's assistant proofreading student papers for grammatical and spelling errors.

Public Speaking

I spent four years in sales and marketing for the #1 direct sales company in the United States, called the Southwestern Company. During my tenure with the company, I conducted over 200 group interviews and training seminars on college campuses, ran weekly sales meetings where I stood in front of groups between 10-100 attendees, and instructed people of all age ranges on public speaking, body language and interviewing skills. I developed managerial, public speaking, time-management, and advanced sales skills through 300 hours of advanced sales and management training.

Reading for pleasure is one of my favorite hobbies. I spend enormous amounts of time reading and re-reading books, not only for pleasure but for educational purposes as well. I have spent many hours helping students learn how to read, as well as improving their reading comprehension for the SATs and regular schooling tests.

SAT Math

While I am certified through Wyzant in SAT math, algebra I and geometry, I did very well on my SAT math when I took the SAT, scoring a 760/800.

For the last 15 years I have played on over 20 softball teams both recreationally and competitively, coed and all men's. I played baseball in high school and coached 3 softball teams after college which has made me very knowledgeable in the rules of the game. Between base-running and batting to fielding and throwing, fundamentals, and strategies, I know softball inside and out. From my experiences, I am well qualified to teach, coach and train softball.

Study Skills

In high school I took International Baccalaureate courses which put forth a tremendous workload and forced me to learn and master time management skills and good study habits. From this, my undergraduate studies were actually easier given my experience managing my course load at such an early age. Since then I have tutored and helped many students learn productive and efficient study habits and time management skills that have permitted them to excel academically while simultaneously having free time.

I've played tennis for the last 20 years of my life, both competitively and recreationally. I played singles and doubles tennis in high school as well as on teams through United States Tennis Association (USTA) where I was recorded at a 4.0 skill level. I would be able to teach beginning tennis lessons up to the high school level.
