Hello, I am a former law school professor, I graduated in the top of my law school class, and I love teaching! My undergraduate degree is in Business, with a minor in Criminal Justice. I have tutored law students and others looking to improve their writing and reading skills, test-taking skills, or even basic computer skills. I have also tutored adult literacy students. I can help improve standardized test-taking skills as well as basic English, grammar, and punctuation skills. I am available to proofread your college application letters, a college thesis, or to provide feedback on writing samples.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bar Exam

I graduated law school 5th in my class. I passed the bar exam on the first attempt. I have taught law school for over 6 years. I taught a class to first-term law students regarding test taking and essay questions. I have taught Legal Research and Writing as well as Advanced Legal Writing.

Criminal Justice

Along with my law degree, I have worked in both the civil and criminal courts in Michigan and am familiar with most aspects of criminal justice. I have experience with probation matters, criminal and civil cases, and jail and prison issues.

Proofreading

I have taught law school research and writing, advanced writing, and moot court. I have lots of experience proofreading, giving written feedback, and discussing individual writing goals and plans with students.

Public Speaking

As a law student, I participated in Moot Court programs where I spoke in front of judges, lawyers, professors, and peers. I have also taught Moot Court for over 8 semesters. I have coached many students on the art of public speaking and how to be persuasive at the podium.
As an employee, I attended the Disney School of People Management and created an one-day customer service training class. I then trained over 300 employees and managers.

Study Skills

As an adult literacy tutor and a law professor I have tutored many students on how to establish good study skills. I begin with determining what the student is currently doing and assess how to improve in the needed areas. Most students just need to learn how to study smarter, not necessarily longer or harder.
