I have been working in education for almost 15 years. I began as a college-level math tutor and started teaching in 2004. I like to teach Humanities, Philosophy, World Civilization, and some History (Ancient Greek History, Rome, etc). I can also teach some basic mathematics like logic, Venn Diagrams, set logic, etc.
I have a Bachelors of Art degree from the University of Toledo in philosophy with a minor in psychology. I have a Master of Arts degree in philosophy from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. I started teaching as Teaching Assistant at Texas A&M while working on my masters degree. I taught three discussion sections of logic every semester for two years while earning my masters degree. I started teaching at the college-level at Southwestern Illinois College. I logic here from 2007-2009. I started teaching at Macomb Community College in 2010. I taught Introduction to Philosophy and Ethics at Macomb until 2012. I started teaching logic, ethics, and philosophy and humanities courses at Oakland Community College Southfield in 2011 and I still currently teach here. I have also taught at Henry Ford Community College, Washtenaw Community College, and Saginaw Valley State University.
When tutoring, I like to ask the student what they want to get from the lesson. I then teach them what they want to know to do well with their classes they are focused on. I emphasize technology, participation, and communication. We work through problem sets, answer book-posed questions, and talk about the material.
I very much enjoy learning and I want you to learn how you learn. Tell me what you want from the lesson and I will try to convey a good answer.
