Hello! I am a practicing attorney that primarily offers tutoring for the essay portion of the Michigan Bar Exam. I graduated Cum Laude from Wayne State University Law School and have taught a class teaching essay writing skills specifically for the bar exam for several years.

I can also help with reading, writing, proofreading and other skills generally. I am available to review your resume, cover letters, essays or other materials to make sure they have an appropriate look and tone. My hourly rate for non-bar exam services is $40 per hour.

If you are interested in bar tutoring services, note that each tutoring session is generally about 3 hours worth of time. Each session consists of three parts:

1. You will receive at least 3 real Michigan Bar Exam questions to complete under test conditions (20 minutes per essay) at your convenience. The questions will be hand-picked to address your strengths and weaknesses. The essays must be completed within 2 days of receipt and you must email or fax your essays to me for grading.

2. I will thoroughly and thoughtfully review your essay questions and provide written feedback on strengths and opportunities for improvement. You will receive a score ranging from 0-10 points that corresponds with grading criteria set forth by the Michigan Board of Law Examiners.

3. We will have a one-on-one discussion to review your past essays, discuss writing technique, discuss any other study concerns and you will receive additional essays for completion at this time. This discussion generally lasts about 45 minutes.

I look forward to working with you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bar Exam

I graduated Cum Laude from Wayne State University Law School in 2008 and passed the bar exam on my first try. I have provided bar essay tutoring with a volunteer organization (Wolverine Bar Association) for 3 years and co-chaired the program for the past two years. I stress writing skills to enable the student to write in a clear and concise manner. Many of my students have gone on to pass the bar exam. Note that there are two portions to the bar exam: (1) essay and (2) multiple choice. Students can pass the essay portion and fail the multiple choices section and then will fail the bar exam. I focus solely on the essay portion.
