Hi, my name is Hea. I enjoy learning and consider myself a lifelong student. I firmly believe that active learning unlocks the door to so many possibilities for ourselves and for those whose paths we cross in life. That is why I enjoy working with students. I am always delighted when I see a student overcome personal and academic challenges to acquire new levels of confidence and broaden his/her horizons.
I hold a four-year college degree. In my professional life, I have worked with youth, teen and adult learners in a variety of settings. I have facilitated classroom learning, group presentations/workshops as well as one-on-one instruction and mentoring. Most of my experience has been with mainstream learners, however, I do have some limited experience working with students who have special needs (visual, physical) or are mildly autistic. It is my goal to empower my students by making technical information "user-friendly" and relevant.

I am an experienced public speaker. Over the years, I have conducted presentations and workshops on a variety of subject areas. In high school, I participated in Forensics and Debate and won a spot to compete at the National Catholic Forensics League in public oratory for two consecutive years. In college, there was no competing team, but I did volunteer to coach local high school students in speech as well as judge their weekend competitions.
I work with students, grades K-12, in a variety of subject areas including Effective Study Skills. I help students of varying academic abilities manage their work load and improve their performance by guiding them in:
• Setting academic goals and outlining a Personal Action Plan
• Tracking daily and long-term assignments
• Outlining and implementing specific study methods , such as: pre-reading;effective note taking; and, active learning support tools (ie. flash cards, etc.)
The students I work with appreciate having a supportive role model that helps them tackle their learning challenges using practical methods. It is a joy to see students improve their level of performance and blossom with self-confidence.
