I live in Detroit and previously worked as an elementary and Spanish teacher at a small Montessori school in the city. I love working with people of all ages and am looking for some added experience in education through tutoring!
I'm a recent graduate from U of M. I studied Linguistics and Spanish and plan to pursue a masters in Elementary Education. I love learning languages, traveling, reading, writing, and teaching! I also love doing arts and crafts with children, making up games and doing whatever it takes to make learning fun! I love children and look forward to meeting you and your family!
My love for teaching started through teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes at my home church throughout high school. Since then, I have worked during the school year for the past four years at a school in Detroit with kindergartners through third graders, designing individualized lesson plans in reading and writing and growing a relationship with them over the course of the school year. The past two summers I tutored for individual families and also designed curriculum for and co-taught classes for children learning English as a second language. I also worked during one school year as a tutor and mentor for a third grade boy struggling in math, reading, and writing. At the beginning of the year, he hated all three because they were a struggle, but over the course of the year, as we worked together twice a week, he developed a love for all three and an eagerness to learn more!
I love teaching and would be happy to help you or your children!
