I am a certified Orton-Gillingham reading therapist for learning disabilities and dyslexic children and adults. I have been tutoring as a full time job for over 15 years teaching reading, writing skills and spelling. Orton-Gillingham is a multi-sensory program which the kids love since they are successful every time they come. I use a sand tray, sand paper, arm pounding and other methods that use all their senses.
I start with the simple and build up from there.

Patience, understanding and compassion are my strengths. I build self-esteem and always praise my students. Very famous people like Einstein, Tom Cruise, Ben Franklin are examples of dyslexic people. You have to have an average to above average to even genius IQ to be considered dyslexic. Kids love to hear this so they understand they can succeed.

Am willing to go to IEPs and work with your child's teachers. The schools don't use the term dyslexia, but rather call it a learning disability. I call it a learning difference as they need to learn in a different way.
